Over the years the Committee has carried out a range of site development work approved at the AGM.

This has included installing proper road surfaces; stablising verges; making internal and external car parks; and installing perimeter fences and gates.

It has also undertaken smaller works such as improving tap and water supplies; clearing derelict gardens for re-let; installing noticeboards, website and facebook communications; and verge management.

Funds provided to the Committee by Sunderland City Council are purely for site Maintenance & Development.

Any suggestions for further projects that can be approved by the Committee or at an AGM are encouraged.

SITE MAINTENANCE also includes taking measures to allow the site to function normally, fairly and in accordance with regulations.

The Committee regularly conducts inspections of plots to ensure proper working and maintenance and that the conditions of the Tenant's Agreement are being observed.

It stringently maintains a waiting list (throuh the Rent Manager) in order that all residents of Sunderland have an equal opportunity to garden on the site.

It also communicates regularly with Sunderland City Council about site matters, particularly arising from the Tenants' Agreement but also regarding other regulations and public concerns, to ensure that allotment gardening on the site is allowed to continue happily whilst local residents are also satisfied and not inconvenienced.
